He began his musical career as a drummer in the late 1960s then while drumming for a band called Poor Heart, he transitioned from drums to vocals. In the late 1970s after meeting future bandmate Mick Jones at a Spooky Tooth show in Rochester, Lou was recruited to join a new band, which ultimately came to be known as Foreigner.
